Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins
and will raise up the age-old foundations;
you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls,
Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.
God’s commission to Joshua took place after the death of Moses and the Lord spoke to Joshua saying, “Moses my servant is dead; now therefore Arise to take his place”… Moses represented the leadership that brought the people to the edge of the Promised Land but did not enter in. The Israelites grumbled and complained against Moses and were charged with a disregard for God’s provision and a disbelief of the promise forfeited the benefit of the inheritance. Honor was put upon Joshua and divine instruction to reestablish covenant between the people and their God, performing great exploits among them. Joshua was given Moses rod of authority and a mandate from heaven to bring the people into the land of their inheritance. In Habakkuk 2:3 it says, “Though the promise tarry, wait for it; it will not delay and will come at its appointed time.”
Before we were formed in our mothers womb God knew us. He conceived and ordained our commission before time began. We were knit together by the hand of the Father and intricately woven together in the image and likeness of God. From conception to delivery, the stages of development and the blueprint to build the house was measured by the hand of God, and the finger of God inscribing His image upon our hearts. Within that period of time, a suitable place has been prepared for the child that had been developed and nurtured internally will now be delivered and manifest as a son/daughter of the promise. We know that all creation groans for the manifestation of the sons of God. This refers to the mature sons that will liberate creation, setting it free from its bondage to decay; gaining entrance into the glorious freedom of the sons of God; whereby we share in the spiritual blessing of the inheritance of the saints (those who have gone before us).
In the mid-1940’s a desperate spiritual hunger gripped a generation that had experienced spiritual famine for ‘hearing the word of the Lord;’ launching a mighty move of God that would make the entire body of Christ capable of functioning in the gifts and callings of God. The ministry of signs, wonders and miracles was the primary focus of the latter day movement, highlighting ministers such as; William Branham, A.A. Allen, T.L. Osborne, Oral Roberts, Gordon Lindsay and many more. One in particular the Lord has been speaking to me about is Gordon Lindsay. He was considered to be the father of the ‘Voice of Healing’ movement. He carried within him the promise of what had been spoken of within the Holy Scriptures could be seen in his time and was compelled to promote the ministry of the gospel to the nations. He preserved the cause of revival by publishing a magazine called, ‘The Voice of Healing,’ to promote the healing revival and the ministers anointed to be voice to their generation. As time went on, the Voice of Healing became Christ for the Nations, distributing literature and teaching tapes to the nations, establishing a missionary outpost to the hungry masses. One day in April 1973, Gordon Lindsay sitting on the platform at Christ for the Nations slumped down in his chair and died. In that same year, Roe v Wade (legalized abortion) was enacted and set into law which introduced a culture of death and a curse upon the land. It is an interesting parallel that the same year Gordon Lindsay, the father of the Healing movement who gave a voice to all the evangelists that God was using for miracles died, and soon after the Charismatic movement waned and eventually went into a premature termination of a promise.
As i began to ponder the implication of premature death to a move of God, the Spirit of God began to quicken to me that it His desire to revive and awaken what has appeared to be dead, but only sleeping. What they had a generation ago were the early rains of revival and a priming of the pump that would require a return to the ancient paths and the right way to walk in, finding rest for our souls. The Israelites were barred from entering the Promised Land because of their unbelief and disobedience they failed to enter the rest of God, forfeiting the promise until another generation was awakened to their destiny.
There is a Lazarus generation waiting to be resurrected and the dead dry bones scattered across the desert floor, once driven away will be joined together and the breath of God will breathe life in them once again. Their is a present latter day movement that has been creating a charge in the atmosphere to release the former and the latter rains upon the earth and the latter house will surely be greater than the former. The great cloud of witnesses look on with excited anticipation to see the completion of the house that God would build. In Zechariah 4:8-10 it speaks of Zerubbabel laying the foundations of the temple and completing it with the capstone and shouts of Grace, Grace to it! It goes on to say, “The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundations of this house, and his hands will finish it. Then you will know (recognize, understand fully) that the Lord of hosts has sent me [as His messenger] to you. 10 Who [with reason] despises the day of small things (beginnings)? For these [b]seven [eyes] shall rejoice when they see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. They are the eyes of the Lord which roam throughout the earth.”
I will end with this… When this present generation is awakened to who they are and the day of our visitation approaches, they will emerge out of the culture of death and a mighty revival of all that has been promised will come to a culminated crescendo, annulling the covenant of death and raising a generation to life!
