Build It and He Will Come!

In 1989, the movie, ‘Field of Dreams,’ came out and many people were drawn to go and watch a movie with an all-star cast to promote America’s favorite pasttime; Baseball. Kevin Costner, who played the main character, Ray Kinsella, takes a journey down memory lane only to find out that his dreams of the past would become a reality and the time that was lost with his father would be redeemed through a series of events, as the impetus for the ‘Field of Dreams,’ opened the door of hope and expectation for dreams to come true.

Do you believe that God has a dream for us? The Father had a dream and spoke it into being. He said, ‘Light Be!’ There was light. Genesis 1:26-28 “He said, ‘Let’s make man in our image and likeness, and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the tame beasts, and over all of the earth, and over everything that creeps upon the earth. So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them. And God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it {using all its vast resources in the service of God and man}; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living creature that moves upon the earth…”

We were made in his image and likeness… In the Hebrew, image or likeness denotes that we were made, fashioned or modeled to resemble our Father. He gave us his DNA and instructed man to be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it. Our first directive was to be a family and reproduce like after like and kind after kind. But God didn’t stop there. He said, ‘subdue the earth and have dominion.’ The word for subdue is ‘kabash’, which means; to tread down, to conquer, to enforce or to bring into subjection and the secondary reference is called ‘kebesh’ or footstool. So not only are we to become a family that resembles the DNA of our Father in heaven, but we are also commanded to subdue and have dominion over all the earth. This is the Ekklesia, the legislative assembly that carries out the directives of the Father, here on earth as it already is in heaven.

So now let gets back to the word subdue or ‘kabash.’ If he gave us a command to subdue and have dominion, then there must have been something that would threaten and resist God’s government. So He commissioned man with His own authority and gave him the provision to accomplish it. As we know, man (male/female) disobeyed the Lord and was separated from the presence of God and was banished from the garden (place of relationship) to wander about the earth and toil all the days of their life. The Father knew that man would defer his authority and already had a plan set in place to bring him back.

Throughout history, their has been a struggle to come back to the place where we last missed it. Man comes to the end of himself and seeks God and finds Him. Revivals and Great Awakenings have ear-marked windows of opportunity that were opened for man to draw back into that close encounter that he had with God in the garden.

In Romans 8 it says, ‘all creation groans and travails in pains of labor until now, but we ourselves groan inwardly as we wait for the redemption of our bodies , our adoption (manifestation as God’s sons). It is our destiny to be reconciled with the Father and that is the whole premise of the movie, ‘Field of Dreams.’ Ray Kinsella (kevin costner) was instructed to build a baseball field in the middle of his corn field. To plow down a valuable piece of property and build something totally contrary and controversial was a bold move on Ray’s part. He was so compelled to do this thing, that he threw caution to the wind and obeyed the voice to build it so that He would come. He did not know who would come or why he was building the field, but took one step at a time to follow the pattern that lead to his destiny.

Ray would go on to build the field and prepare the ground for the ‘dream team,’ to come back and play together one more time. The great cloud of witnesses are cheering us on to complete the testimony that they even long to see. They have laid a foundation for us to build upon and come together in unity as God’s Dream Team, building his Field of Dreams (the house of the Lord) to prepare a habitation that is able to carry his glory and extend his Kingdom here on earth.

In Isaiah 66:1 it says, “Heaven is my throne and earth is my footstool, where is the house you will build for me?” It was in David’s heart to build a house for the Lord to dwell and was given the pattern for his son, Solomon to build it. The ‘tabernacle of David’ is the only tent that God is going to raise up in the last days and he is doing it again. If we build him a sanctuary or habitation for his presence to dwell, according to his pattern, He will come and not only visit, but stay.

It is the culmination of all things summed up in Jesus Christ and the reserves that have been stored up for the righteous are about to change hands. The provision to build it so that He can come will transfer suddenly from the hands of the wicked in to the hands of the righteous. Those who boast in what they have will lose it, but those who are humble and contrite will be given the inheritance of the Father to build His house. This house that is built will contend with every other house and the nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising. Isaiah 60

The final mandate of the Father’s house is upon us to ‘build it and He will come.’ His house shall be called a ‘house of prayer’ for all the nations and His name shall be glorious. For all those who hear the call and respond, ‘they will inherit the earth and the uttermost parts of the earth as their possession. He will fill all in all and there will be no lack, even in the midst of famine. There will be no famine for ‘hearing the word of the Lord,’ but His word shall go forth and accomplish exactly what it was sent out to do. He is sending out his heralders to proclaim the ‘acceptable year of the Lord {the year of His favor} and the day of the vengeance of our God…” Our reproach and widowhood will be removed off of the land and we will be given a new name. We shall be called married; for the Lord delights in us. We shall be called the redeemed of the Lord; and a city sought out and not forsaken.

Let’s be the people whose God is the Lord and listen to His instruction to ‘build a habitation for his presence.’ A presence movement that will transcend time and space, awakening the dormant soul back to life, reforming a generation that will restore the latter glory back to his house again.
